Omni Bead Ruptor bead mill homogenizer Omni Bead Ruptor bead mill homogenizer

Discovery is delighted to announce the release of the long-awaited alternative to the Bertin PreCellys from Omni International of Kennesaw, GA. The Omni Bead Ruptor is the newest generation of highly efficient  bead mill homogenizers.

Key Features:
  • Simultaneously homogenize either 24 x 2 mL or 12 x 5 mL tubes
  • Unique front-loading tube holder position for ease of use and optimal bead/sample interactions
  • Broad speed range for any type of sample processing
  • High reproducibility: number of cycles, time, speed, dwell/pause
  • Powerful brushless motor does not require a cool down period between processing cycles like competitive products.
  • Removable tube carriage allows for sample pre-cooling and more efficient sample loading.
  • 99 program pre-set memory
  • Advanced sample temperature monitoring system
  • Waterproof seal prevents contamination of motor compartment
  • Multi-lingual user interface
  • Interchangeable adapters for different tube sizes
  • Disposable tubes ensure no threat of cross-contamination or sample degradation
This system is specifically designed for the grinding, lysing and homogenization of biological samples prior to any molecular extractions. Using sample tubes pre-filled with a variety of lysing beads, the Bead Ruptor 24 vigorously and uniformly shakes the tubes providing an efficient and high-yield homogenization usually in less than 40 seconds.  The Bead Ruptor uses an advanced carriage motion that optimizes bead movement inside the sample tubes to minimize swirling. This increases processing efficiency and reduces sample heating.

The Omni Bead Ruptor 24 can simultaneously grind up to 24 tubes of 2mL or 12 tubes of 5mL in seconds at very high speed for releasing DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, etc. while still retaining molecular integrity. The Bead Ruptor 24 guarantees a homogeneous and efficient homogenization combining high yield, quality analysis and consistency.

All soft tissues (bacteria, liver, brain, skin etc.) and hard/tough tissues (bones, corn, hair, seeds, soil etc.) can be homogenized with one of 8 adapted bead kits.

Accessories - Omni Cryo 24 Cooling Unit

The Cryo 24 cooling unit (part number 19-8010) is the perfect companion to the Bead Ruptor 24. It keeps samples cool before, during and after processing. The unit can be used with liquid nitrogen or dry ice to maintain a consistent temperature for heat-sensitive samples. The Cryo 24 operates by passing compressed air through a heat exchanger where the liquid nitrogen or dry ice cool the air prior to moving it across the sample tubes. Compressed air and either liquid nitrogen or dry ice are required to operate the Cryo 24.

Accessories - Tube holder for 5 mL lysing tubes

The 5mL Bead Ruptor tube carriage kit includes a specially designed tube carriage and finger plate that facilitates the use of 12 x 5mL tubes with the Bead Ruptor 24.

Omni Prep multi-sample homogenizer Omni Prep multi-sample homogenizer

Key Features:

  • Process 6 samples per cycle and up to 250 samples per hour
  • Utilizes Omni Tip™ plastic probes for elimination of cross contamination (please see the Homogenizer Probes catalog)
  • Special stainless steel generator probes are also available (please see the Homogenizer Probes catalog)
  • Microprocessor controlled with 3 stored programs for time and speed
  • Processing range of 0.25mL to 30mL
  • Speed control from 500 to 30,000 rpm
  • Process most samples in less than 1 minute
  • Positive airflow that can be exhausted to a HEPA-filter or fume hood
  • Sealed and open vessel processing configurations
  • Oscillating (up/down) rack for efficient processing of all size samples
  • Clear door allows for sample viewing and prevents splashing
  • Ultra quiet performance
  • Optional Ice Tray for frozen or sensitive samples

The innovative Omni Prep multi-sample laboratory homogenizer is specifically designed to streamline the labour and time-intensive homogenization process and to make it more comfortable for the user. It features Omni's Whisper Drive Technology that utilizes an ultra quiet brushless motor that is virtually maintenance free and uses about 10% of the power required to process 6 samples individually. Whisper Drive Technology, unlike brush motors, guarantees accuracy and repeatability since the motor holds its processing speed to 0.5% accuracy throughout the homogenization cycle regardless of fluctuations in sample size or sample viscosity.

A specially designed oscillating sample rack holds up to 6 tubes from 1.5ml to 50ml in size. Microprocessor control allows the user to program time (to 10 minutes) and speed (500 - 30,000 rpm). Sample volumes of 0.25mL to 30mL can be homogenized using 5, 7 or 10mm stainless steel generator probes or Omni Tip plastic homogenizer probes. Omni Tips can completely eliminate cross-contamination as well as the time-consuming cleaning steps associated with the use of stainless steel generator probes. Omni Tips are so tough they can homogenize frozen tissue and may be disposed of, reused, or autoclaved.

The Omni Prep is also suitable for sharing. As with a multi-sample centrifuge, an Omni Prep in the laboratory can elevate productivity and dramatically improve workflow. It is small enough to fit in most laminar flow cabinets. Optional ice trays are available to process sensitive samples. The Omni Prep is sold as a customizable homogenizing system. At least 1 processing rack, 3 tube holders and Omni Tip plastic probes are required to operate the Omni Prep. Movable processing rack, tube holders, Omni Tips™ and tubes sold separately.
