UltraBright-LED blue light transilluminator UltraBright-LED blue light transilluminator

Key Features:
  • Uses blue light instead of UV so no danger to lab personnel
  • Does not damage DNA - no photonicking
  • Compact and portable
  • Suitable for viewing gels up to 20 cm x 16 cm
  • High sensitivity: down to 0.1 ng
  • Ideal for gel cutting. No need to wear amber glasses.
  • Uniform light generated by 224 high intensity LEDs: 5% CV across the full filter area
The UltraBright-LED is a new generation of blue light transilluminator. The UltraBright-LED has two side-mounted high intensity LED arrays. This produces uniform and bright excitation at 470 nm making it suitable for a wide range of dyes. This includes GelGreen, GelRed, SYBR Green, SYBR Gold, SYBR Safe, UltraSafe Blue and even Ethidium Bromide- stained DNA gels.

Gels up to 20 x 16 cm can be viewed. The use of special filter material in the lid of the UltraBright transilluminator greatly enhances the contrast of bands and provides ideal viewing conditions for image capture and band cutting.

The UltraBright-LED can be used in Syngene G:BOX gel imaging systems or as a stand-alone unit.

UV transilluminators UV transilluminators

A range of UV transilluminators are available for Syngene gel imaging systems. The transilluminators feature special lighting reflectors to ensure a more even illumination across the sample area. The following options are offered:

Transilluminator type
Wavelength

Single wavelength
254nm, 302nm or 365nm
Dual wavelength
254nm and 302nm

254nm and 365nm

302nm and 365nm

Transilluminators are available with 20cm x 20cm, 20cm x 30cm or 25cm x 30cm sample viewing areas. Please note that certain sizes may not be compatible with specific gel imaging systems because of that system's camera specifications. Please contact Discovery to confirm compatibility.

Plug-and-play epi lighting modules for G BOX gel imaging systems Plug-and-play epi lighting modules for G BOX gel imaging systems

Syngene now offers an advanced lighting system for their G:BOX gel imaging product line that incorporates  a range of modular epi illumination sources for the excitation of an extensive selection of commercially available dyes. The new epi lighting system offers the following modules:

White light

All new G:BOX systems will now be factory-fitted as standard with an integral epi white light LED lighting system.  The dual 8 LED assemblies are fixed either side of the darkroom and are positioned to give bright, even illumination over a 25cm x 30cm area. This module cannot be field-fitted.

Ultraviolet light

This optional module can be fitted with 365nm, 302nm or 254nm UV lighting (one tube of the same wavelength on either side of the darkroom). As an alternative a UV tube of one of these wavelengths can be fitted on one side of the darkroom and one tube of another of these wavelengths can be fitted on the other side. The UV lighting modules are fitted above the white light modules (please see below) and illuminate an area of  25cm x 30cm. The UV module can be field-fitted by a competent engineer.

Red, green and blue (RGB) modules

The introduction of Syngene's unique LED "plug and play" lighting systems for new G:BOX systems will now allow a user to select only those wavelength modules that they require for their specific application(s). Each lighting module emits a specific colour and is matched with a dedicated filter. The modules simply plug into a lighting gantry (optional extra) which is situated below the white light fixture in the darkroom. Once plugged into the gantry the module is automatically registered by Syngene's new GeneSys darkroom control and image acquisition software.  Up to 4 modules can be plugged into the lighting gantry on each side of the darkroom. It is possible to fit identical modules to increase intensity or to use a number of modules with different wavelengths. Modules are normally fitted in matched pairs with one on either side of the darkroom.

There are seven different modules to choose from. Modules denoted with an (M) are specifically designed for  imaging samples stained with multiple dyes (multiplexing).

White light table and converters White light table and converters

Syngene has just introduced a new white light table for the GENi and also for the G:BOX range of gel imaging systems. The table is conveniently hinged to the back of the gel imaging darkroom so that it can be folded out of the way when not in use.

Syngene still offers their NovaGlo visible converter screen for all visible light applications and the blue converter screen for blue excitation dyes.

A safety screen is also available to protect users from UV exposure while working with the transilluminator or viewing gels outside of the darkroom.
